Team San Diego

16 and Under 

The USABF’s 16-Under Team San Diego is now accepting applications for the upcoming 2008 summer season. 

Team San Diego’s home field again will be Grossmont College.  As in the past, members of the Grossmont College staff will coach Team San Diego.  With the Grossmont coaching staff conducting the team’s practice sessions and game play, players will have an excellent opportunity to experience first hand what will be expected of them as they advance to the next level of their playing careers

In 2007, Team San Diego won the USABF’s Fourth of July Classic and placed third overall in the USABF’s Annual World Series.  While 2007 was an outstanding season, 2008 has the potential to be even better.

Team San Diego is scheduled for a minimum of 40 games with most weeks featuring five games.  Team San Diego is entered in the San Diego Elite Baseball League (SDEBL), which is affiliated with Pony Baseball, the American Amateur Baseball Congress (Connie Mac), the National Amateur Baseball Federation, the United States Amateur Baseball Federation  (USABF), and  the Continental Amateur Baseball Federation (CABA). Each organization offers a berth in their national tournaments. 

Team San Diego kicks off the 2008 summer season in Palm Springs at the Southern California Challenge and then returns to San Diego to begin league play in the SDEBL. Tournament play this summer includes the San Diego Elite Baseball Invitational, The Capital Classic in Sacramento CA, Baden’s Best of the Best, USABF’s Fourth of July Classic, and the Regional Championships hosted in San Diego for Pony Baseball (Colt Division). The summer concludes with the team competing in the USABF’s Wood Bat National Championship.  More scheduling information will be available by March 1.

The highlight of this summer’s team is the trip to Sacramento, CA - leaving San Diego on June 17 and returning on June 22.   Each player’s roundtrip transportation, accommodations and two meals per day will be provided.  Team San Diego will be staying at the Fairfield Sacramento Cal Expo ( www.fairfieldinnsacramento.com ) three players per room.  While in Sacramento the team will visit the State Capital, and Sacramento State University. .

The fee for the 2008 summer season is $2,000.00, which includes all league and tournament fees, travel and lodging in Sacramento, team tee-shirts and hat, and a player profile video produced by TheSportsTV.com. Each player will also receive one USABF event pass, good for one daily admission at all USABF events.  Additional USABF event passes may be purchased at a reduced price by player families.
