Play Ball: Welcome to San Diego, Americas Finest City for the USABF Senior World Series. For many, this year’s event may be the pinnacle of their 2008 season. Tournament Entry Fee: $95.00 per player and $35.00 per Manager, Coach, and Scorekeeper. Tournament Giveaways: Includes two dozen baseballs, T-shirts for all playing participants, the USABF Media Guide, game line-up cards, and much more. Tournament Central: Tournament Central, located at Morley Field - home of San Diego City College, will be open and available to provide you with the most up-to-date information and directions from one hour prior to the first game until the completion of each day’s games. Check-in: Each team is required to check-in Thursday, July 31, 2008, between 10 am and 6:00 pm at Morley Field. During check-in, each team will be required to submit their final roster and certificate of insurance. If you don’t have proof of insurance you will be required to purchase one (Cost is $189.00). This policy will be good for the entire 2008 season (December 31, 2008) Vendor Show: The USABF is excited to announce the return of its Vendor Show as part of this years check-in. Over 25 vendors are expected to participate in this years show. Please refer to our Vendor Show page at www.usabf.com for a complete listing of these years participating vendors. Manager and Coaches Meeting: This year’s location has not been established, but will include a dinner, a guest speaker and a complete review of all tournament information. Every team should plan to attend. When chosen, the site will be posted on the USABF website - www.usabf.com . Academy Division: To participate in the Academy Division all players must have High School eligibility remaining or be of the age 17 or under. This is not a 17 and under division. Players 18 and under participants may play in this division provided they will be retuning to High School in the fall of 2008. For those players, a report card for 2007 will be required along with proof of birth at the check-in. This report card will have to show that they were enrolled in the 11th grade or lower during the spring 2008 grading period. Schedule: The tournament schedule will be available at the Mangers’ Meeting - any special scheduling requests will need to be submitted prior to July 15, 2008. Each team will play 5 pool games between Friday and Monday. Tuesday is a day off for participants. This allows everyone a chance to relax and enjoy San Diego before the final days of the tournament. All teams advance to the double-elimination tournament beginning Wednesday, August 6. All teams are guaranteed a full week of participation as no team can be totally eliminated until Thursday August 7. Playing Facilities: The USABF is proud of its playing facilities and we believe our facilities to be second to none. Each playing venue receives complete field maintenance before and after every game - most have indoor restrooms and a full snack bar Admission: All Managers are reminded to inform their parents of the daily admission $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for students and children - 17 years or younger. Admission is valid at all facilities for the entire day. Identification requirements: Each player is required to carry some sort of personal identification that matches the official roster. In the event that a player is challenged he will be required to provide proper identification. If the player can not provide this identification he will become ineligible for the balance of the game. The Player will have one hour after the completion of the game to provide proper identification in order for the game to be official, otherwise the team will be given a loss due to forfeit. If this player participates in an additional game without providing proper identification the Team will be disqualified from the tournament. Tournament Roster: The tournament roster for this division is open and has no limit. The only restrictions are that no player be under any type of professional contract. Any team using a player under a professional contract will be disqualified from the tournament. Please download the official roster form from our website. This form is optional. Should you prefer to use your own version, please ensure that the players name, date of birth, address and uniform number are included. incomplete rosterS will not be ACCEPTED. Program rosters are very important for the many followers including Major League Scouts, College Coaches, Sponsors, and Supporters. Remember, this is NOT your OFFICIAL ROSTER. Your Official Tournament Roster is due at Check-in. You must submit a roster for the program no later than July 16, 2008, which you can either send via e-mail at usabf@cox.net or fax to our Corporate Office at (618) 271-6659. Teams failing to provide a roster by July 16 will be assessed an additional charged of $50.00. Lodging: The USABF has contracted with various hotels within the San Diego area.
